Rathmines College fought bravely to come out victorious in a physically grueling game in the quarter finals of the invitational cup against TUS Midlands. The first half began with a strong start from both teams with Rathmines trying to get an early goal and TUS Midlands trying to make the game as physical as they could.
In the 15th minute Rathmines got their first of the game with Emmanuel Ayoola finishing off a great move started by Rathmines man of the match Ethan Bonner.
The second half started strong for the home side, who maintained their momentum, with three or four close efforts from Liam Saudan and some tantalizingly skillful plays from one of today’s standout performers, Mohamed Rhuma. Rathmines battled on through the end of the first half with some scintillating football leading to a second at the end of the first half from super sub-Liam Saudan.
The second half kicked off under some controversy as the TUS Midlands crowd began to become hostile towards the Rathmines players, but Rathmines got their heads down and continued with some reassuring communication from Rathmines captain Elijah Odion. Rathmines added their 3rd through a clinical finish from their very own fox in the box Oliver Macnamee.

Rathmines pressed late and added the final goal of the game through Stanislav Boiechko to but the finishing touches on a composed 4 nil victory. In conclusion Rathmines showed real class battling through a very hostile and daunting atmosphere to put themselves in a fantastic position to go on and lift the cup.
