Rathmines College ran its first thrift shop event in March 2024, focusing on the promotion of sustainable fashion and philanthropy.
What set our Thrift Shop apart was its partnership with Oxfam Ireland, a renowned charity dedicated to fighting global poverty and injustice. All proceeds from the event went directly to supporting Oxfam’s impactful initiatives. This collaboration added a meaningful layer to the shopping experience, allowing attendees to contribute to a charitable cause while enjoying the thrill of a treasure hunt.
This event not only emphasizes sustainability and charitable giving but also fosters a sense of community within Rathmines College between both students & staff, creating a vibrant atmosphere that celebrates both individuality and collective impact. The work completed by students contributed to their overall grade in both Marketing Practice and Digital Marketing, bringing the modules to life, through a real live project.
Staff and students donated their pre-loved clothes, books, vinyls & jewellery and the event took place for one week only, from the 5th to the 8th March 2024.
